Another Blast From the Past

Let’s take another quick look at those amazing film reels about the metals industry that the government and metal industry companies produced back in the days that short, informational films would be played before main features in movie houses.  As always, these sorts of things warm our metal-centric hearts, and what better time to think about how much our parents and grandparents and great-grandparents helped build this country and this industry than Thanksgiving week?

Thank you, Fabtech!

Fabtech 2013 is over, and we had a wonderful time.  Thank you to the Fabtech staff, the McCormick Place staff,  and the always wonderful city of Chicago for being fabulous hosts.  And thank you to everyone who stopped by and visited us at our booth!  We really appreciated it, and loved seeing all of you.

So, in honor of the occasion, a video explaining all the great things you should do if you happen to find yourself in Chicago, as we did this week.

As we may have already mentioned, we’re going to a little event in Chicago next week…

• Chicago is home to the world’s largest free outdoor food festival — The Taste of Chicago.
• Chicago is home to Lincoln Park Zoo — one of the world’s last free zoos.
• At 2.2 million square feet, Chicago’s famous McCormick Place has the largest amount of exhibit space of any convention center in the country (hint, hint!).
• Harold Washington Library (The Chicago Public Library) is the world’s largest public library with a collection of more than 2 million books.
• The game of 16-inch softball was invented in Chicago.
• The World’s largest cookie and cracker factory as well as the world’s largest ice cream cone factory are located in Chicago.

• Chicago is home to the world’s largest water filtration plant, The Jardine Water Purification Plant.
• Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium is the world’s second largest aquarium in the world. It holds 5 million gallons of water to support 20,000 aquatic animals.
• The first car race ever seen in the United States was held in Chicago in 1895. The length of the track ran from Chicago to nearby suburban Evanston.
• Chicago has over 200 theaters, over 200 art galleries, over 7,300 restaurants, 77 community areas, over 100 neighborhoods, 26 miles of lakefront, 15 miles of bathing beaches, 36 annual parades, 19 miles of lakefront bicycle paths, and 552 parks.

Leveltek at Fabtech!

It rhymes, so it’s easy to remember: “Leveltek at Fabtech.”  What’s Fabtech?  It’s the largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event in North America!  It’s where new ideas, products and technology are put on display through interactive exhibits, educational programming, plus a wealth of networking opportunities.  They’re expecting over 35,000 attendees and over 1,500 exhibiting companies this year, and Leveltek is one of them!
